EMANCIPATED

THE EMANCIPATED

I was a part of the first album of my church Island ECC. It was recorded live in October 2009.

Album Notes:

Led by Jeff Caylor and Leora Gardner, The Emancipated is the praise and worship band of Island Evangelical Community Church, based in Hong Kong, China.

Jeff Caylor began his role at Island ECC in July of 2008. Prior to his experience here, Jeff independently released the album Okay in 2007. The album was named the 5th Best Album of 2007 by Christianity Today (USA), a unique achievement for a self-marketed, self-produced independent artist. His sophomore release What Birds Dream in 2009 was inspired by his move from the USA to Asia.

Leora Gardner moved to Hong Kong in October 2009, after serving as a violinist with Hillsong in Sydney, Australia for 2 years. Album credits include This is Our God (2008) and Faith + Hope + Love (2009).

The Emancipated (self-titled) is the first 12-track worship experience created at Island ECC. The album contains 6 original songs, recorded live in October 2009 and then 6 electronically remixed arrangements of these songs immediately following in an “immersion set.”

Implied in the definition of the word “emancipated” is the refreshing truth that we cannot free ourselves. Our freedom comes as a result of someone acting on our behalf, paying the price to set us free. We believe His name is Jesus Christ and, through His death and resurrection, we have the ability to courageously and beautifully embrace our liberation.
